Hi!
I'm Dana Wilson,
one of the authors of Epi
Kardia Curriculum and a former homeschooling mom, who happily homeschooled our kids from kindergarten through
high school. My primary passion is to help Christian parents intentionally disciple their children and
teach them to live biblically. This is the worldview that is espoused in our curriculum and the one from
which I write on our blog.
Cameron and I have been married
for almost thirty years and have two children, Aliece and Michael. Aliece is in her first year
of graduate school, studying to become a physical therapist and eager to eventually serve in missions or with
an under-served population. She is also actively involved inMedical Campus
Outreach. Michael is a sophomore at college and is hoping to also be involved in public
health, in a capacity yet to be determined. :-) In the meantime, he enjoys serving on the student
leadership team with Crosspoint Church in Clemson, SC. You can see pictures of
Aliece and Michael at various ages and in many places on this website!
One of my favorites is here.
I have been a Charlotte Mason
educator for many years. One of the first things I learned about homeschooling was that the way I thought I
was supposed to teach wasn’t automatically the way my children learned.
It was quite a
shock.
The Charlotte Mason method
seemed to be exactly right for us. It was natural, flexible, focused on the Bible and the highest quality
literature and MUCH easier to teach. Additionally, I have always been interested in learning styles and
the concept of multiple intelligences and have researched both, incorporating the results into our
literature-based curriculum.
Before children I served as a
Human Resources Director for a national non-profit in the Washington, D.C. area, a counselor/director at a
transitional facility for alcoholics and offenders, and an educator of both children and adults.
Read more about the history of
Train up a Child Publishing/Epi Kardia below and please feel free to peruse the blog. If you want to learn
more about what Charlotte Mason homeschooling looks like, could use some homeschooling encouragement,
and would benefit by exhortation regarding living as a Christian mom (or dad), I hope to be
able to help.
Thanks for
visiting!

Prior Authors and Company History
Beth Hempton and Kara Murphy
were the original authors and founders of Epi Kardia in 2001. After a short time Kara left to
focus on her growing family, while Beth remained for another few years and then was joined by me in 2003. At
that time Epi Kardia Home Education LLC was born. I began a blog in 2007, and we gradually added new
curricula over the years, including Daily Lesson Plans and High School courses,to our original Complete
Program curricula .
Feeling the Lord was drawing
her back to just teaching , Beth discontinued her active role Epi Kardia at the end of 2009, although she
continues to remain in close touch.*
In 2011 Epi Kardia officially
became Train up a Child Publishing, LLC - although none of our goals or
beliefs have changed. I hope the new name will be
easier to remember -- and it still captures my passion about training our children to
live biblically. Gratefully, I have added a small staff and we are thankful to be servicing the
Christian homeschooling community in the U.S. and abroad.
If you are a homeschooling
parent I want to invite you to join our mailing list to receive two classic e-books - 98 pages in all.
(This is an immediate download.) If you join our list you will also receive one or two e-mails per week
offering you parenting support and encouragement as well as practical information about homeschooling,
including book reviews, free lesson plans, ...and there is one substantial savings coupon that will be
arriving soon after you join - you will just have to join and see. :-)
*Beth is a skilled and popular
teacher and is currently offering courses for all ages both locally and online. Read about her classes and
contact her at her website, Classes By Beth. Beth continues to use
Epi Kardia Curricula for most of her high school courses. Read more about Beth here.

"I'm still using Epi Kardia and LOVING it! I added one more student this year
to the mix, A.! She and I do a more traditional Epi Kardia approach, whereas J. and G. know the drill and are
on something like auto pilot with the program. Thank you for your dedication to writing such a fine
curriculum. My family have enjoyed it and been blessed by it time after time. I still share it
with everyone who will listen!"

"E. is in 4th grade right now and C. is in 1st
grade. I love being able to use Epi Kardia with both of them! (And we'll be adding L. in kindergarten
next year.) What a blessing this curriculum has been and continues to be for us! Thanks Dana and
Beth!"

"I have 4 children and we are using
all 4 levels of the program. Just another
reason why I love this program! It is flexible enought for me to do just what I want with it! :-) "

"The kids and I just finished playing a '20th Century Trivia' board game that A.
made after I saw it in the [Preparatory Complete Program] Epi Kardia curriculum. What a great idea! He had to
come up with the idea, use history & geography to come up with the categories and then the questions,
make the board, paint the board and then make up the rules. It was a great 2-week
project!"

I am very excited about where the Lord will take us this year in our homeschooling! I am
telling everyone I know about your amazing customer service.
May God Truly Bless you in all you do!
Thanks,

"I am using the American Literature [high school] curriculum for a co-op starting in August
and am very pleased with it so far. I have laid out weekly lesson plans for the group so that they are
reading along at the same pace and know which assignments will be due when. It is so clearly laid out and
easy to use. I love the notes on grading/assessing the assignments and the rubrics you have provided. I
want to order a few more things real soon, so really appreciate the coupon!!
Thanks!"

"I am grateful and appreciative. [You have provided] customer service of the highest degree -
thanks so much, and thanks for the updates on future products. You are most kind."
