About the Authors
Dana and her husband, Cameron, passionately feel that their primary goal as homeschooling parents is to disciple and mentor their children and thus ‘raise Godly generations.’ They have homeschooled their two children for over 13 years. As with many of us, her philosophy about teaching has changed over the years, but she has drawn most heavily from Charlotte Mason’s teachings. She also has extensively researched different learning styles and multiple intelligences, incorporating the results into Epi Kardia curricula.
An avid reader herself, Dana feels there is no comparison between textbooks and living books, so wholeheartedly recommends to new homeschooling parents that a literature-based curriculum is the way to go. Over the years she has observed how well-written literature has sparked a love of reading and learning in her family, as well as Beth’s.
Cameron and Dana have a daughter, Aliece, who is finishing her junior year at Clemson University on merit-based scholarship. She is majoring in Health Science and hoping to become a Physical Therapist by the end of her university career. Cameron and Dana’s son, Michael, is looking forward joining his sister at Clemson University this fall as he is currently finishing up his senior year. Although it will be challenging being empty-nesters, the Wilsons are excited about what God has planned to do with their additional time.
In her ‘life before homeschooling’, Dana has had a number of opportunities – from running a half way house for alcoholics and offenders to working as a Human Resources Director under Chuck Colson at Prison Fellowship. Like many of us, she wears several hats and serves her local homeschooling support group, is active in church, and occasionally administers aptitude and standardized tests to adults and children.

eth has home schooled her two children for over ten years. Her daughter, Allyson, is soon graduating with honors from Clemson University where she has studied pre-med on scholarship. Striving to become a PA in the missions’ field, Allyson is excitedly anticipating beginning PA school immediately upon graduation. Beth is truly enjoying the opportunity of seeing the fruit of her labors. Her son, John Paul, follows Allyson by six years and Beth appreciates additional time with him. With a heart for missions, Beth views her role in Epi Kardia as an opportunity to minister to other home school families and share with them the joys and challenges that she has experienced working with her own children. She encourages her children to be light and salt to the world and enjoys any opportunity she can take to participate in missions ministries along with them.
Even before conceiving the idea of Epi Kardia, Beth utilized the concepts of integrating curriculum with whole books both in a structured classroom situation and at home with her children. She sees the value of a classical approach, but longs to maintain a Biblical standard in the process. Epi Kardia was designed with such methodology in mind.
Beth’s background is as both educator and writer. She enjoys working with parents in a personal way to promote a love for reading and writing, as well as to encourage them to use their own unique gifts as they teach their children.
Due to her desire to spend additional time with her new husband, Darrell, and her son John Paul, as well as work on some personal projects, Beth has moved away from active involvement with the running of Epi Kardia. She currently continues to write for Epi Kardia and is currently teaching local and online classes using Epi Kardia curricula.
