Teacher's Manuals

The Epi Kardia Manuals are the backbone of our curriculum! Whether you use the Complete Programs or our Daily Lesson Plans, the manuals will help you organize your time and materials, give you ideas to keep your toddler busy, walk you through the process of planning a unit, and support you in teaching history, science, language arts and fine arts, from Kindergarten through High School.  Epi Kardia offers two manuals, the lower grade manual, covering Kindergarten through fifth grades, and the upper grades manual, covering sixth grade through high school.  The upper grades manual also includes an extensive section on high school writing.

"A child has not begun his education until he has acquired the habit of reading to himself, with interest and pleasure, books fully on a level with his intelligence."

Sample Teaching Schedule

Sample  Teaching Schedule --Click on the heading to see a sample Epi Kardia schedule for one school year. Of course, we want to remind you that ANY home school curriculum should be used as a tool to fit your family, schedule and teaching style. Feel free to modify the schedule as needed. If your students love the Medieval period, feel free to spend more time there. The next year, consider skipping or shortening the Medieval unit if you would like to spend more time in another unit. As well, many Epi Kardia families just start the school year where they left off the year before. Epi Kardia is designed to be used to fit your family.

Also, remember that if you are teaching older students, especially in high school, you may want to follow the two year schedule suggested in the Epi Kardia manuals (or your own schedule!) to allow for more in depth study. To read more about scheduling and planning courses for the high school student, go to Secondary Complete Program.

"I'm still using Epi Kardia and LOVING it! I added one more student this year to the mix, A.! She and I do a more traditional Epi Kardia approach, whereas J. and G. know the drill and are on something like auto pilot with the program. Thank you for your dedication to writing such a fine curriculum.  My family have enjoyed it and been blessed by it time after time.  I still share it with everyone who will listen!"

-Jennifer, mom of 5, CT

"E. is in 4th grade right now and C. is in 1st grade.  I love being able to use Epi Kardia with both of them!  (And we'll be adding L. in kindergarten next year.)  What a blessing this curriculum has been and continues to be for us!  Thanks Dana and Beth!"

--Julie, mom of 5, SC

"I have 4 children and we are using all 4 levels of the program. Just another reason why I love this program! It is flexible enought for me to do just what want with it! :-) "

 --Pam, mom of 4, SC

"The kids and I just finished playing a '20th Century Trivia' board game that A. made after I saw it in the [Preparatory Complete Program] Epi Kardia curriculum. What a great idea! He had to come up with the idea, use history & geography to come up with the categories and then the questions, make the board, paint the board and then make up the rules. It was a great 2-week project!"
