Curriculum Overview and Descriptions
Epi Kardia Literature-based Curriculum Using Charlotte Mason Methods
Epi Kardia is literature-based, homeschooling curriculum using
Charlotte Mason methods that is organized chronologically by nine historical units and integrates history,
science, language arts and fine arts. Although primarily used in homeschool settings, Epi Kardia's innovative
methodology is also currently being utilized by private Christian and Cottage schools, as
well.
Benefits of Epi Kardia
Homeschooling Curriculum
-
Homeschool the way children
naturally learn - making homeschooling exciting and fun, rather than
boring and dry! Based on Charlotte Mason methodologies include
reading whole, living books, short lessons, oral narration, using copy work and dictation to teach grammar and composition, and
more.
-
Have time for the fun parts of homeschool, like projects and
field trips! By integrating the subjects of history,
science, language arts (including reading, grammar, composition, phonics, poetry, literature studies,
spelling) and fine arts, school is shorter and your children stay more
engaged!
-
You don't have to be an expert on history to teach with our curricula - we
provide (in our Complete Programs) overviews of each historical period .
Provided in our Complete
Program components are historical overviews
of each time period for teachers/older students.
-
Feel confident teaching all the subjects Epi Kardia covers with our K-5th
grade and 6th -12th Manuals. The 100+ page teacher's
manuals include abundant information about
teaching covered subjects and as well as curriculum related material, as well as a
customizable CD with teaching tools and helpful
forms.
-
Continue homeschooling through high school with
assurance. The 6th - 12th grade manual includes helpful
tips and information about those scary parts of teaching high school -- what courses are
required? How do I keep high school records? Will my students be able to get into
college? (Includes an extensive section regarding teaching high school
writing.) Should you choose our high school courses, everything you need to teach and evaluate your student is
included.

Manuals are the backbone of our curriculum! Whether you use
the Complete
Programs or our Daily Lesson

materials, give you ideas to keep your toddler busy, walk you through the process of planning a unit, and support
you in teaching history, science, language arts and fine arts, from Kindergarten through High
School. Epi Kardia offers
two manuals, the lower grade manual, covering Kindergarten through fifth grades, and the upper grades manual,
covering sixth grade through high school. The upper grades manual also includes an extensive section on high

himself, with interest and pleasure, books fully on a level with his intelligence."

Sample Teaching Schedule
Sample Teaching
Schedule --Click on the
heading to see a sample Epi Kardia schedule for one school year. Of course, we want to remind you that ANY
home school curriculum should be used as a tool to fit your family, schedule and teaching style.
Feel free to modify the schedule as needed. If your students love the Medieval period, feel free to spend
more time there. The next year, consider skipping or shortening the Medieval unit if you would like to spend
more time in another unit. As well, many Epi Kardia families just start the school year where they left off
the year before. Epi Kardia is designed to be used to fit your family.
Also, remember that if you are teaching older students, especially
in high school, you may want to follow the two year schedule suggested in the Epi Kardia manuals (or
your own schedule!) to allow for
more in depth study. To read more about scheduling and planning courses for the high school student, go to
Secondary Complete
Program.
