Epi Kardia Christian Literature-based Homeschool Curriculum Using Charlotte Mason Methods

Sample Annual Schedules for our Literature-based Homeschool Curriculum

Our curriculum is organized chronologically into nine historical units, designed such that all of your students, from kindergarten through twelfth grade, may study the same unit at the same time. Additionally, our curriculum is designed to study from Creation to Modern in one school year - each year!

We believe that this method gives students a more thorough understanding and a better recall of the flow of history as opposed to breaking history down into pieces over a number of years.

With this layered effect, students are more engaged, develop a better understanding and recall of history, and can more easily make connections between historical events.

The focus may differ at each level, but a Biblical worldview prevails.

Do I have to stick with your schedule to use your curriculum?

No, you don't!

  • If your students love the Medieval period, for example, feel free to spend more time there. The next year, consider skipping or shortening the Medieval unit if you would like to spend more time in another unit.
  • As well, many homeschooling families using our literature-based curriculum just start the school year where they left off the year before, preferring to move at their own pace.
  • Many families are used to studying history in larger "chunks," and prefer studying three units each year instead of nine.  There are enough recommended books  in each of our Complete Programs to do this if this schedule works better for your family.

Epi Kardia can be used any way that fits your family.

*To do history justice in high school, we often recommend dividing both American History and World History into two classes each, for example: American History I (Colonial through the Civil War) and American History II (Immigration through Modern). There is enough material and suggestions in the Secondary Complete Program to spend a year on the last unit alone, and many have done just that! Use your and your student's interest as a guide to planning high school classes. To read more about scheduling and planning courses for the high school student, see  the Secondary Complete Program page of our high school curricula.

"I'm still using Epi Kardia and LOVING it! I added one more student this year to the mix, A.! She and I do a more traditional Epi Kardia approach, whereas J. and G. know the drill and are on something like auto pilot with the program. Thank you for your dedication to writing such a fine curriculum.  My family have enjoyed it and been blessed by it time after time.  I still share it with everyone who will listen!"

--Jennifer

"E. is in 4th grade right now and C. is in 1st grade.  I love being able to use Epi Kardia with both of them!  (And we'll be adding L. in kindergarten next year.)  What a blessing this curriculum has been and continues to be for us!  Thanks Dana and Beth!"

--Julie

"I have 4 children and we are using all 4 levels of the program. Just another reason why I love this program! It is flexible enought for me to do just what want with it! :-) "

 --Pam

"The kids and I just finished playing a '20th Century Trivia' board game that A. made after I saw it in the [Preparatory Complete Program] Epi Kardia curriculum. What a great idea! He had to come up with the idea, use history & geography to come up with the categories and then the questions, make the board, paint the board and then make up the rules. It was a great 2-week project!"

I am very excited about where the Lord will take us this year in our homeschooling! I am telling everyone I know about your amazing customer service.
May God Truly Bless you in all you do!
Thanks,

--Tracy

"I am using the American Literature [high school] curriculum for a co-op starting in August and am very pleased with it so far.  I have laid out weekly lesson plans for the group so that they are reading along at the same pace and know which assignments will be due when.  It is so clearly laid out and easy to use.  I love the notes on grading/assessing the assignments and the rubrics you have provided.  I want to order a few more things real soon, so really appreciate the coupon!!
Thanks!"

--Erica

"I am grateful and appreciative. [You have provided] customer service of the highest degree - thanks so much, and thanks for the updates on future products. You are most kind."
