We have read every book we recommend in the program and have chosen not only top-quality literature, but books that support our Christian values - and many are beautifully illustrated as well! Our second grade daily lesson plans include weekly themes and objectives, book and supply lists, discussion questions, activities, projects, picture study and poetry - all mapped out for you in a clear, organized way. In second grade we continue to learn about Old and New Testament times and about other cultures past and present, view art and listen to music of various historical periods, cover different habitats and discover the incredible diversity of our natural world. In language arts we continue to reinforce reading and basic grammar and punctuation skills, memorize Scripture, poetry, and history and science facts. We continue to expose your second grader to the basics of grammar through short, oral lessons and copywork. Your student will have opportunity to practice oral narration over short readings, learn about poetry and read different types of fiction. The books we have chosen for the second grade curriculum also provide many opportunties to have fruitful character-building discussions - a hallmark of all of our curricula from kindergarten through high school.
Using this literature-based second grade curriculum will bring history and science to life for your second grader! Each set of daily lesson plans represents approximately one third of a year's study. Sets I, II and III will take you through the school year. We offer each set separately, or three together for a reduced price. They are available in printed, spiral bound copies or on CD.
